Being a individual who loves getting out and riding a bike, I am always looking for places to go besides the roads around my house. One web site I use to find trails to use is the rails to trails. Rails to trails conservancy is a program that I have supported for a long time.
The history behind RTC started in 1986 when a group of walking and biking enthusiast, railroad history buffs, conservation and park groups began meeting in Washington, D.C.
RTC has more than 1 million supports, more then 24,000 miles of rails-trails nationwide. RTC has more the 8,000 miles of rail-trails ready to be built.
On April 22 2023 the RTC will be celebrating Trails day. You can find out more about Trails days by going to RTC web site. They have location for this event all over the country.
So I encourage you all to look up a local trail and get out there and enjoy nature on one many trails.
Has a young man fresh out of high school it is hard to decided what you want to do. For the first few months after first graduating I put a lot of job application in. Finally in August of that year I decided to check out the military. I first tried the air force but did not do to well on the asvab test. My math just did not cut it. I eventually was talked into checking out the navy and was able to use my existing asvab score to get me in. I can honestly say joining the military and sticking it out was the best decision I have ever made. It forced me to grow up and accept responsibilities. The decision also lead to me spending 20 years on active duty with the Navy.
Being from Cincinnati, there is one restaurant I make a point of stopping at to get some Cincinnati Chile. Skyline has been part of Cincinnati for a long time. So on my list of favorite restaurants, skyline sits at number one.
Pizza are a staple of American food, There is numerous fast food pizza chains all across this country. You can also find frozen pizzas in all grocer stores. There are all kinds of ingredients that have been add as toppings, like anchovies, pineapple, corn, and peperino just to name a few. What is your favorite toppings?
Today I decide i wanted a pizza but I did not want a frozen one or wanted to order one. So I made my own. I went to the store and picked up some pizza crust, peperino, olives, mushrooms, and Italian sausage.
The first thing I did was preheat my oven to 400 degrees and laid out the pizza crust. Once the oven reached 400 deg, I precooked the crust for 8 mins.
While the crust was cooking I precooked the Italian sausage.
Once the crust was finished cooking I started adding my toppings. First I add the sauce.
I then add a small layer of mozzarella cheese.
Then I add all the other toppings. The pre cooked sausage, mushrooms, peperino, and black olives.
Then top it off with more cheese.
Put the pizza in the oven for 6 minutes.
I cut the pizza into slices and enjoyed. I will have some for my lunch on Monday and Tuesday. I will never be a gourmet chief and will never win a food cook off and that is fine with me.
Our beloved Chester is a 12 year old chihuahua that gave us a little health scare recently.
He had been drinking excessive amounts of water, having accidents all over the house and just not being very active. I took him to the local veterinarian and he was diagnosed with diabetes. Poor little Chester now has to get two shots of insulin every day. I had a monitor put on him.
Chester in his dog pen trying to get use to the monitor on his side. Every time I use my phone to scan the monitor, he will try and lick the phone. Need to find a way to keep him away from the monitor, he has managed to break it in less then a week by rolling around on it. New ones 50 to 80 dollars to replace.
The good news is, after serval weeks of shots and being penned up he is back to his normal mischief. Still have issues with the monitor. Might have to use the old prick method to test his level and I am sure he is not going to like that. Hopefully he will continue to improve.
To me, riding a bike is a fun way to exercise. It gives you a great cardio exercise and can help build up the leg muscles. There is various types of riding you can do. I my self enjoy riding on designated bike trails or country roads where there is less traffic. Bike trails allow you to enjoy a leisure ride. There is several apps that can allow you to track your exercise. The one i use is map my ride. During the week i do a simple ride and also stop and check my mail at the post office.
